A commercial kitchen floor is judged on grip and cleanability, not on looks. A dense-bodied, anti-skid vitrified tile with minimal water absorption is the only sensible choice near a cooking line. Keep the grout width tight and specify an epoxy or stain-resistant grout; oil and turmeric work their way into ordinary cement grout within weeks.

Cleaning cycle first

Pick the tile around the cleaning routine, not the other way round. A kitchen that gets degreased daily needs a finish that can take repeated chemical cleaning without dulling, and a floor gradient built in for drainage matters more here than in almost any other room in the brief.
